"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."
-Rumi
Hello, my name is Kathryn, and I'm the voice behind Freebird Meditations. My path to this work emerged from navigating my own inner and outer challenges, a mind that rarely found stillness, a body that carried the weight of unprocessed experiences, and a spirit that cycled through seeking, disillusionment, and renewed searching. Through years of chasing answers and "quick fixes" that left me empty-handed, I eventually found myself yearning for a connection to something deeper or more sustainable. These personal challenges shaped much of my early life journey and ultimately led me toward the practices I now share.

But for years, I felt lost in a maze of my own making. I tried countless approaches to seeking relief: self-help books, therapy, esoteric studies, various spiritual teachers, all things woo-woo, medicinal routes, workshops, and retreats. Each offered temporary glimpses of possibility, but I then realized that I was constantly looking outside myself for answers, finding moments of reprieve but never lasting peace. I was trying to "transcend" my struggles when what I really needed was to turn inward, to meet myself with compassion, and to discover that the quiet center I sought had been within me all along.
Everything changed when I committed to meditation and mindfulness practices after a significant loss and life transition. I realized there was no way out but through. Bit by bit, I started to grasp what I had been looking for all along: the ability to be more present, less emotionally reactive, more secure, and at home in myself and what I know to be as spirit. Especially during the difficult times. At first, sitting with my own experiences was terrifying and painful, but with persistence, something began to shift. I discovered how to hold sacred space for myself when life felt overwhelming.

Nothing happened overnight. This was a journey of small awakenings, many setbacks, recommitments, and gradual transformation. There were days when meditation or mindfulness practice felt impossible, especially when old patterns pulled strongly or when I questioned whether anything was really changing. But over months and years of practice, the cumulative effect became undeniable. These practices transformed my life so profoundly that I devoted myself to deepening my understanding, not just for my own benefit, but to support others walking similar paths.

My journey took another significant turn when I finally discovered nervous system and somatic work. While mindfulness and meditation had taught me to observe and be with my thoughts and emotions, this deeper exploration revealed how our experiences also reside in the body itself. I learned that true transformation isn't just about changing our mental patterns; it's about reconnecting with the wisdom that's also held in our physical being, the container that carries us throughout our lives.

Through nervous system regulation and somatic practices, everything became more real, more tangible. I could finally feel the shifts happening in my body, not just understand them intellectually or cognitively. This work taught me that our bodies are constantly communicating with us, and when we learn to listen, we discover an incredible capacity for self-regulation and healing that goes far beyond what the mind alone can achieve.

But through these practices, I discovered that presence isn't necessarily something to "achieve;" it's our natural state when we remove the barriers we've built against it and learn to work with what is. It took me a long time to learn this seemingly simple truth, and I am still a work in progress. However, I suppose that was just part of my journey... the time it took for this wisdom to move from intellectual understanding to a lived and felt experience. But this revelation fundamentally changed how I relate now to myself and how I work with others. And when you finally get this, you want to share it...especially in a world that needs it so desperately.
This is why Freebird Meditations exists today.
I created this space because we need a nurturing place to land and learn. I believe transformation happens not through adopting someone else's technique but through rediscovering our own innate wisdom. No one can "heal you" but yourself. The resources I share are all designed to help you find your own way back to yourself, just as I have been teaching myself to do, and you have the innate capacity to do the same.

I don't offer these practices as quick fixes because real transformation isn't about shortcuts. In a world saturated with instant solutions, what if the true power lies in something deeper? These practices are all invitations to help you shift your relationship with yourself and your experience, one breath at a time.

I don’t claim to have all the answers, nor do I position myself as a guru or influencer with a secret formula for life. The world has enough of those. Instead, I offer a space for you to uncover your truth and reconnect with your inner wisdom and peace.
Yes, this work takes time, patience, and steady attention, something many of us struggle with. But what emerges is yours: a presence that is unshakable, a sovereignty that no external force can ever take away. The peace we seek doesn't have to be something to chase; it’s already within us, like a seed holding the potential of a mighty tree. With the right conditions and care, it naturally unfolds and flourishes, growing stronger even in the face of strong storm winds that arise

It's my belief and experience that true freedom isn't found in escaping your experience but in being fully present with it. This journey of coming home to yourself may be the most profound practice of all. Liberation will emerge as you intentionally cultivate your capacity for awareness and presence. Though it requires dedication, this practice reveals the deep peace and natural freedom many of us have been seeking all along.

Thank you for being here. I'm humbled and honored to fly alongside you in this grand adventure called life.

Metta Wishes to all: May we all be happy, May we all know peace, and May we all be....free.

In Peace Profound,
Katie, Freebird Meditations
